Conducting Live Coding

Troubleshooting

Interview Feature Operating Procedure

This section explains the flow from start to finish when conducting online interviews (e.g., live coding).

1. Starting an Interview

Candidates cannot open the interview screen until the interviewer starts the session. Please follow the steps below to start.

  1. Start Operation Find the target interview from the home screen or list, and click one of the following:
    • The "▶" button to the right of the interview name
    • The "▶ Start Interview" button at the top of the test overview screen
  2. Confirmation A pop-up will appear; click "Start".

2. Using Communication Tools

Video Call Function

This procedure is for using HireRoo's built-in video call function.

  • Connection Method
    1. Click the "Video Call" button in the upper right corner of the screen.
    2. A pop-up will appear; clicking "Join" will establish the connection (please allow browser microphone and camera access as needed).
    • ※ Candidates also need to perform the same operation. It's helpful to instruct them, "Please click the video call button in the upper right after the test starts."
  • Settings
    • You can adjust input devices and noise canceling from "Settings".
  • Specifications and Limitations
    • Maximum Connected Participants: Up to 8 people can connect simultaneously.
    • Multiple Interviewers: Each interviewer should open the interview by following step 1 and then connect (the copy button at the top of the screen is for the candidate's URL, so do not share it with interviewers).
    • Feature Limitations: There are no virtual background or recording features. Also, video and audio from the video call are not included in the playback.

Chat Function

You can use text chat from the "Chat" tab on the right side of the screen.

Note

  • Public to All: Chat messages are visible to all participants (there is no direct message function for specific recipients).
  • Late Joiners: Previous chat history will be displayed to members who join after messages have been sent.
  • No Record: Chat content is not saved and cannot be viewed in playback.

3. Problem Selection and Screen Synchronization

In an interview, you can present problems using one of the following two patterns, or a "blank session":

  • Coding Format: Programming using an editor.
  • System Design Format: System design using a drawing tool.

About Synchronization Specifications

The candidate's and interviewer's screens are synchronized in real-time. Please note that if the interviewer changes the language or problem, the candidate's screen will also switch automatically.

  • ※ The "Evaluation Items" and memo fields on the right side of the screen are not visible to the candidate.

4. Adding/Deleting Problems

During an interview, you can add or delete problems depending on the situation.

Adding Problems

Click the "+" button at the far right of the tab row.

  • Create a new session
    • Select either a code editor or a drawing tool to create an empty, blank session.
  • Create using problems created on HireRoo
    • From the pop-up, select and add from a list of pre-added problems.

Deleting Problems

Click the "×" button on the tab of the problem you want to delete.

5. Ending the Interview

Once the interview is complete, click "End Interview" in the upper right corner of the screen, and select "Yes" in the confirmation pop-up.

Important If any one of the interviewers participating in the interview performs the end operation, the entire interview will end, and the candidate will be forcibly exited from their screen.

※ If you want to leave first by yourself, do not click the end button; instead, close your browser tab or window.
