On-screen Operations During Answering (Language Switching, Moving Between Questions, Various Settings)

Getting Started

Basic Operations on the Answering Screen

This section explains the basic operations on the answering screen during a live test. We will focus on UI operations common to all formats, such as coding, quizzes, and system design.

Screen Composition

The answering screen primarily consists of the following areas:

  • Header: Test name, remaining time, question switching dropdown, and various buttons.
  • Left Sidebar: Panels for switching between question text, test cases, and code search.
  • Main Area (Center): Code editor or answer input area.
  • Right Panel: Support tools such as Google Search and ChatGPT (depending on company settings).

Checking Remaining Time

The remaining time is displayed in a countdown format in the header at the top of the screen. As time dwindles, the display color changes, so please proceed with answering while frequently checking the time.

Switching Questions (Navigation)

If there are multiple questions, the current question number is displayed in the center of the header as a dropdown in the format "Question N".

  1. Click "Question N" in the center of the header.
  2. A dropdown menu showing a list of all questions will appear.
  3. Select the question you wish to move to.

Important: You can move freely between questions. It is also possible to review all questions before deciding the priority of your answers.

Switching the Left Sidebar

The left sidebar has three panels, which can be switched using the icons at the top.

Icon Panel Content
Question Text Icon (Document) Question Text : Displays the description and requirements of the current question.
Test Case Icon Test Cases : Displays input/output examples for coding problems.
Search Icon Search within Code : Allows keyword search within the code in the editor.

Each click on an icon will switch to the corresponding panel.

Adjusting Panel Size

You can freely adjust the width of the left sidebar and the main area, or the main area and the right panel, by dragging the boundary lines (dividers) between each panel.

  1. Move the mouse cursor over the boundary line you want to adjust (the cursor will change to a left-right arrow icon).
  2. Drag the boundary line to move it left or right.
  3. Release the mouse button when it reaches your preferred size.

Switching Display Language

You can change the display language of the screen (e.g., Japanese, English) during the test.

  1. Click the Settings button (gear icon) at the top of the screen.
  2. The "Language" selection menu will appear.
  3. Select the language you wish to use.

Important: The language setting on the entry screen is not carried over to the actual test screen. Please set it again on the actual test screen.

Checking the Tutorial

When you open each problem for the first time, a tutorial guiding you through the operations will automatically appear. The tutorial includes explanations of UI specific to the question format.

Steps to re-display the tutorial:

  1. Click the Settings button (gear icon) at the top of the screen.
  2. Select "Restart Tutorial".
  3. The tutorial will restart from the beginning.

Important: You can restart the tutorial at any time. Feel free to check it if you are unsure about an operation.

Finishing the Test

Once you have answered all questions, finish the test.

  1. Click the "End Test" button in the header at the top of the screen.
  2. A confirmation dialog will appear. Review the content and then click the end button.

Important: You cannot change your answers after ending the test. Please review all questions before finishing. If the time limit expires, your answers will be submitted automatically.
